Career Conversations: How Did You Get That Job?

In our Career Conversations series, we engage with impact + sustainability professionals, with particular focus on our GCNYC alumni network, in order to illustrate through example what working in impact + sustainability looks like, break down the intentional and accidental steps that lead to their current position, and have an open dialog for your questions.

WHAT: Sometimes we just learn best by example. In our Career Conversations series, we engage with impact and sustainability professionals, with a particular focus on our GCNYC alumni network, in order to illustrate through example what working in impact and sustainability looks like, break down the intentional and accidental steps that lead to their current position, and have an open dialog for your questions.

Jenn Horner is a sustainability strategist and certified health & nutrition coach. She is passionate about influencing leaders to value health of people and the planet. She is currently a Corporate Responsibility Specialist at PVH Corp, where she builds upon and operationalizes their sustainability strategy.

When she’s not influencing corporate leaders, she is a part-time health and nutrition coach, utilizing her contagious enthusiasm and energy to cultivate the potential in others to achieve their health-related goals.

Jenn graduated from Glasgow Caledonian New York College in December 2019.

Career Conversation with Shannon Welch, Sustainability Division Director at Chapter 2 Agency and Director of Strategic Initiatives & Creative Partnership for Fashion Revolution USA

WHAT: We were so excited to talk with Shannon Welch, December 2020 GCNYC alumna, Sustainability Division Director at  Agency and Director of Strategic Initiatives & Creative Partnerships for Fashion Revolution USA.

Currently, Welch is the Sustainability Division Director at PR agency, Chapter 2 where she leads accounts for bluesign®, Bombyx, Saitex, EDWIN USA, Vuarnet, and Roopa Pemmaraju. She also currently serves as the Director of Strategic Initiatives & Creative Partnerships for Fashion Revolution USA, a global organization calling for greater transparency in the fashion industry. Welch completed her M.S. in Impact-Focused Business & Investing from Glasgow Caledonian New York College in December 2020.

Career Conversation with Lauren Hood of Corporate Citizenship

Thursday, April 29th at 6PM EDT

WHAT: We were so excited to talk with Lauren Hood of Corporate Citizenship.  Lauren received her B.S. from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and her M.S. in Sustainability Management from Columbia University, where she focused on water management and sustainable product development. Before joining Corporate Citizenship in 2020, she spent 6 years in the fashion industry working in sustainability, production, supply chain management, and material sourcing for a sustainable women’s wear brand.
